Securities and trading hours
Group symbols into securities with stale alerts and depth, and set trading hours with time zones, holidays and early closes so closed markets stay quiet.
Securities group your symbols into asset classes such as FX, Metals and Crypto. Trading hours profiles say when each one trades, so closed markets stay quiet instead of raising alarms.
Securities
Every symbol belongs to one security. A new bridge starts with FX, Metals, Indices, Commodities, Crypto, Equities, Futures and Synthetic Indices, and you can add your own with Add security.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Name, Description | How the security appears in lists and filters |
| Code | A short fixed code, such as forex or metals. It cannot change after creation. |
| Trading hours | The profile for every symbol in the security, unless a symbol has its own |
| Stale price alerts | Warn after and Error after, in seconds. The error limit must be longer than the warning. |
| Market depth and volume | Optional depth and volume sent with prices, with Depth, Sizes, Lots per level and Level step, and a live preview |
| Buy/sell sentiment | Optional buyer and seller percentages sent to takers that show them |
| Available | Hidden securities are left out of lists |
Trading hours profiles
A profile describes a market's week. Create one with New profile:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | Such as FX 24/5 |
| Time zone | The market's own time zone. Daylight saving is handled automatically. |
| Weekly hours | Times for each day, such as 09:30-16:00. Several sessions in a day are separated by commas. |
| Holidays and special hours | A date that is closed all day (leave the hours empty) or has shortened hours |
The presets 24/7, 24/5 (Sun 17:00 to Fri 17:00) and Weekdays 09:00 to 17:00 fill in the week for you.
A new bridge comes with Always open, FX 24/5, Metals, energy and indices and US stocks, already attached to the matching securities. Crypto and synthetic indices are always open.
The list shows each profile's week, whether it is open now and when it next opens or closes, and which securities and symbols use it.
Which hours apply
- A symbol with its own Trading hours uses that profile.
- Otherwise it uses its security's profile.
- With neither, it is always open.
Deleting a profile makes everything that used it always open.
When a market is closed
While a symbol's market is closed:
- It shows Market closed, and the last price stays on screen.
- Stale price and silent feed alerts for it stay quiet.
- Generated instruments pause, and formula symbols are not recalculated.
The dashboard's Market sessions panel shows every profile, open or closed, with when it next changes.
