MT5 datafeed

Install the XiroLink datafeed in your MetaTrader 5 History Server, connect it in MT5 Administrator and check that prices arrive.

The XiroLink datafeed is a native MetaTrader 5 module built on the MT5 Gateway API. It runs inside your MT5 History Server, receives finished prices from your bridge and hands them to MT5, so nothing heavy runs on your MetaTrader servers.

You need admin access to your bridge, and access to the Windows server running the MT5 History Server.

1. Add an MT5 taker

In your bridge, go to Takers and add a taker. Under What connects? choose Feeder, then MT5.

Field What to enter
Name Any name, such as MT5 Live. It must be unique.
Port The first free port is filled in for you. Keep it unless you have a reason not to.
Sign-in IP only lets the MT5 server connect from its allowed IP without a password. Password also asks for a username and password.
Allowed IPs Your MetaTrader server's fixed public IP. Connections from anywhere else are refused.
Prefix, Suffix Optional. Use them if your MT5 symbols have names like EURUSD.r (suffix .r) or d_EURUSD (prefix d_).

With IP only, leave the feed login and password empty in MT5 Administrator.

2. Send symbols to the taker

Go to Symbols and map the symbols this MT5 server should receive. The taker's names are built from the universal symbol with its prefix and suffix, so EURUSD with suffix .r becomes EURUSD.r.

To set spreads, assign the taker to a markup profile on the Markups page. Until you do, it receives raw prices. See Markup profiles.

3. Install the datafeed

  1. In your bridge, open Resources → Downloads and download the XiroLink Taker Feeder.
  2. Extract it and copy the folder into the Datafeed folder of your History Server, for example:
text
C:\MetaTrader 5 Platform\History\Datafeed\XiroLinkFeeder\
    XirolinkFeeder64.exe
    MT5APIGateway64.dll

Keep both files together in their own folder under Datafeed. The exact path depends on where MT5 is installed.

4. Connect it in MT5 Administrator

  1. Open MetaTrader 5 Administrator and go to the History Server's data feeds.
  2. Add a new datafeed and choose the XiroLink feeder module.
  3. Fill in the connection:
MT5 field Value
Server Your bridge's address and the taker's port, such as bridge.example.com:5001
Login The taker's username, or empty with IP only
Password The taker's password, or empty with IP only
Mode Quotes
  1. On the Symbols tab, add the symbols you want this feed to price, using your MT5 names.
  2. Tick Enable and save.

The History Server starts the datafeed, which connects to your bridge. There is no separate configuration file.

5. Check prices arrive

  • In your bridge, the taker shows a connected client and Needs attention no longer lists it.
  • In MT5, quotes for the mapped symbols update in the market watch.

The taker's connection guide has these details filled in for your bridge, ready to send to whoever runs your MT5 servers.

How the connection stays healthy

The datafeed and the bridge exchange a heartbeat every few seconds, so each side knows the other is there even when no prices are moving. After about 30 seconds of silence the link is dropped, and the datafeed reconnects on its own.

Troubleshooting

You see Check
Nothing connects The MT5 server's IP is in Allowed IPs, and the port is open from the MT5 server to the bridge.
Connects, then drops With Password, the login and password in MT5 Administrator match the taker.
Connected but some symbols do not update The symbol is mapped to this taker on the Symbols page, and its MT5 name matches the taker's prefix and suffix.
Prices far from expected The taker's markup profile. Compare raw and sent prices in the profile's Live preview.

Repeated failed sign-ins from one address block it for an hour. Unblock it under Security.

Upgrading

  1. Download the new version from Resources → Downloads in your bridge.
  2. On the History Server, back up the current XiroLink feeder folder.
  3. Disable the datafeed in MT5 Administrator.
  4. Replace the files in the feeder's folder under Datafeed with the new ones.
  5. Check the version in MT5 Administrator and enable the datafeed again.

Orders

The datafeed carries prices only. Trades stay with your MT5 server and the execution setup you already use.
