FX and metals: selective pressure

FX is not showing broad stress. Several majors are trading within normal or below normal ranges, but AUDUSD is the main FX outlier.

EURUSD is at 1.1163, up 0.07% on the day and down 0.8% over 20 days. It sits 35% into its 20 day range. GBPUSD is stronger at 78% of its 20 day range, with a 0.23% daily gain and a 0.69% 20 day rise.

USDJPY is at 63% of its 20 day range, with its day range at 0.72 times the 20 day average. USDCHF is at 38%, with below average range at 0.73 times. USDCAD is lowest among the majors at 6% of its 20 day range, flat on the day at 0.0% and down 1.58% over 20 days.

For FX desks, the main point is symbol selection. AUDUSD has the largest FX day range at 0.8% and is running at 1.34 times its 20 day average. Spread logic and skew should reflect that, rather than using one setting across all majors.

Gold is weaker but not extreme. XAUUSD is down 0.68% at 4026.81, sits 21% into its 20 day range, and its day range is 0.92 times the 20 day average.

Silver needs closer control. XAGUSD is down 2.43% on the day and down 14.24% over 20 days. It is only 6% into its 20 day range, with a day range of 4.55% and range pressure at 1.45 times its 20 day average. Review spread and markup rules where metals have separate books or different liquidity depth from FX.

Crypto: low in range, but still active

Crypto is broadly weak on the day. BTCUSD is down 0.05%, ETHUSD down 0.5%, SOLUSD down 0.58%, and XRPUSD down 1.67%.

The group also sits low in its 20 day ranges: BTCUSD at 36%, ETHUSD at 16%, SOLUSD at 22%, and XRPUSD at 28%.

Daily ranges still matter. BTCUSD has a 2.43% day range, ETHUSD 3.07%, SOLUSD 3.75%, and XRPUSD 3.3%. Against their 20 day averages, BTCUSD is at 0.95 times, ETHUSD 0.71 times, SOLUSD 0.88 times, and XRPUSD 0.8 times.

For brokers and prop firms running weekend or continuous crypto symbols, low range position can attract dip buying and mean reversion flow, while daily ranges still create slippage and stop out risk. Use monitoring and alerts to watch symbol health and stale pricing, and check coverage and house book exposure where client flow is concentrated.

Broker desk takeaways

Set controls by instrument, not by asset class alone. FX looks mixed and mostly contained, silver is the clearest metals risk point, and crypto remains low in range with active intraday movement.

If you run XiroLink, keep aggregation, markups and monitoring aligned to the instruments showing the highest range pressure instead of applying broad settings across FX, metals and crypto.
