Setup checklist
The order to set up a new XiroLink bridge: connect makers, add symbols, connect takers, assign markups, then check prices and alerts.
A new bridge shows a Get your bridge running checklist on the dashboard. It follows the path a price takes: makers first, then symbols, then takers. This page walks through the same steps, with what to check at each one.
1. Add a liquidity maker
Go to Makers and add your first source of prices: a liquidity provider over FIX 4.4 or TCP, or a market data feed.
Before you start, send your LP the bridge's fixed IP address so they can allow-list it. It is on the Server card of your company in the XiroLink portal, with a Copy IP button.
See Connect a FIX 4.4 LP.
2. Get the maker connected
The maker's status turns green when its session is up and prices are arriving. If it stays red, open the maker: the session history shows each attempt and why it ended.
3. Create symbols and pick their sources
Go to Symbols and add the symbols you want to offer. The quickest way is the built-in library: pick the instruments, choose which maker prices them, and add them in one go. Names and digits are set for you.
With more than one maker, choose for each symbol whether it uses one maker, the best price across makers, or a priority order with failover.
Then go to Trading hours and make sure each security has the right profile, so closed markets stay quiet.
4. Add a taker
Go to Takers and add the platform or client that will receive prices: a MetaTrader feeder, a FIX or WebSocket API client, a TCP stream or another XiroLink bridge. Only the fields that kind of taker needs appear, with a free port and a name already filled in.
See MT5 datafeed and FIX API for your clients.
5. Send symbols to the taker
Map the symbols the taker should receive, and set a prefix or suffix rule if the platform expects names like EURUSD.r.
6. Connect the first client
Open the taker's connection guide and send it to whoever connects the platform. The taker's readiness tells you if anything is still missing before they try. When the client connects, the taker shows it as listening.
Then set your spreads
The checklist ends at the first connected client, but before you go live:
- Create a markup profile and assign it to the taker. Until you do, the taker receives raw prices. See Markup profiles.
- Compare raw and sent prices in the profile's Live preview.
- Turn on alerts under Alerts so your team hears about a quiet feed before clients do.
- Check Needs attention on the dashboard says All clear.
